TALENT MANAGEMENT AND GLOBAL COMPENSATION...
DEVELOPING AND MANAGING A WORKFORCE PLAN RELIES ON A GLOBAL COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
JENNIFER GREEN, Principal Consultant, GREEN GLOBAL RESOURCES
SYNOPSIS
Workforce Planning starts with HR teaming up with Finance to strategize, capture and trend relevant “cost” data that makes explicit what impact labor costs have on the company’s profitability, particularly among high tech companies where labor rates are the biggest factor in the expense line. Using labor (both direct and indirect) cost data as leverage, it is easier to get attention paid to the importance of reducing labor costs and drive human capital investment and resources iin locations where costs are low, and productivity is higher. How to measure the costs and how to measure productivity is a challenge but by capturing costs (inputs) and measuring productivity (output) in terms of revenue and performance, you will be able to understand the true value of the lower cost regions. It's not just about lowered labor costs. It's also about productivity and performance. Where are your highest performers? What are your skills requirements now and in the future? What are labor cost trends? Global Compensation Programs provide a framework from which to compare apples to apples, across the globe. Having the same criteria for job levels simplifies the process. How many career and senior level engineers and where will you find them? Having a common frame of reference across the globe in terms of skills and competencies facilitates communication about the cost and productivity of your workforce.

IDENTITY THEFT PROTECTION DURING MOBILITY PROCESS...TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION
John L. Heithaus, SCRP;Chief Customer Officer, Orion Mobility
Synopsis:
Identity Theft...This streamlined program will discuss methods of protection that corporate relocation managers, relocation management firms and individual transferees can take to reduce the likelihood that an ID Theft will occur. Identity Theft is one of the nation's fastest growing crimes, so pervasive that President Bush has established a task force to combat it. That group issued recommendations last year, creating a National Identity Theft Law Enforcement Center to help local agencies coordinate investigations. 8.3 million, or nearly 4 percent, of American adults were victims of identity theft in 2005, according to the latest figures from the Federal Trade Commission, which enforces identity theft laws. Of those victims, 1.8 million had accounts opened or other types of fraud committed with stolen information. The rest had their credit cards or other financial accounts hijacked. Unfortunately, people in the middle of a relocation, and their families, are particularly susceptible to exposure due to the logistics of the relocation process.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
John’s twenty-five year career in relocation spans executive positions with Merrill Lynch, Cartus, Monstermoving.com and Prudential Relocation. He also served as Vice President, Membership for the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (ERC) and helped create valuable strategic alliance programs benefiting the association’s worldwide members. Educated at Iona College, Manhattan College’s MBA program and Georgetown University’s McDonough Graduate School of International Business, he is currently matriculating for a PhD in Organizational Theory and Design from Warren National University. Heithaus received ERC’s coveted President’s Award in 1996, in addition to three Distinguished and two Meritorious Service Awards, for his contributions to the industry’s educational and technological initiatives. He also holds the SCRP designation from WORLDWIDE ERC.

POLICY UPDATE: HOW TO "GO GLOBAL" ... AND SURVIVE!
ALAN FREEMAN, GPHR, Chairman & CEO
LOF International Human Resources Solutions, Inc.
SYNOPSIS:
When companies make the decision to venture into the international marketplace, it often falls upon the HR function to “put together a package” to send first-ever international assignees to new locations around the world. Often, other than having heard that the terms “expatriate” and “expensive” are inextricably linked, those challenged with establishing these approaches don’t have the necessary experience nor know where to start. This session will provide a look at options for program structure, delineate the many independent variables that must be taken into consideration and offer an approach for building a practical program that is truly appropriate to each individual company and its business circumstances.
